CPRA Referendum gets the Green Light!
Called CCPA 2.0, the California Privacy Rights Act ("CPRA") Referendum will be on the ballot in November. If Californians approve it, companies will get a roadway of about 2 years to start preparing for this comprehensive and robust privacy law that will rival the GDPR. The CPRA will make it much harder, if not practically impossible, for the California legislature to water it down. It will introduce new concepts to American law such as legal basis and it will add a special category list of sensitive personal information. If you thought CCPA was a game changer, just wait until the CPRA! We will be watching the vote very closely.
